Strawberry Fields

Mom and I drove up to Siemer's Farm on Greenbluff Saturday to pick strawberries. Lots of other people had the same idea, but there was plenty for everyone.

Yummy.

Sunday I puttered, potted plants, watched Amelie, had a lovely lime dinner party to celebrate my birthday. Havana Garlic and Lime Chicken, Strawberry Limeade and Key Lime Pie. I was having so much fun I forgot to take pictures.

It was a lovely, summery, strawberry and lime-y birthday weekend...

I have a few random strawberry plants growing amongst the irises and batchelor buttons along the foundations. But just about when I think one is ripe enough to pick, it disappears overnight! What little critter is stealing my strawberries????

I live in MI's UP and we were to go (me, hubby and kids) to pick the other day, farmer said, dont come up the heat has turned the berries to mush. i was so sad. we have a small patch here at home...but we can always eat more! plus I like to can jellies.
